FITNESS AND NUTRITION

At a high-end gym, a CLIENT walks through the automatic glass doors and into the front entrance before heading toward the area of offices for employees.

Inside office number two, a PERSONAL TRAINER is sitting at a desk. The Personal Trainer notices and greets the Client in a friendly manner and motions to enter and sit down.

PERSONAL TRAINER
Good afternoon.

CLIENT
Hi.

PERSONAL TRAINER
How has your week been?

CLIENT
Terrible. I ate out a lot and had a whole cake.

PERSONAL TRAINER
What about your workouts?

CLIENT
That’s what you do.

The Client laughs.

PERSONAL TRAINER
That’s what you do actually.

CLIENT
Yes but you motivate me.

PERSONAL TRAINER
I do but you still are the one getting it done without me sometimes.

CLIENT
Don’t make me feel guilty about my meals this week.

PERSONAL TRAINER
I’m not here to instill guilt.

CLIENT
But I see that look in your eyes.

The Client laughs again.

PERSONAL TRAINER
You know the facts about what to eat. I can’t make you do it.

CLIENT
But you can inspire me.

The Personal Trainer looks down at his desk of notes.

PERSONAL TRAINER
Let’s have a look at your food journal.

CLIENT
I didn’t do it. Can’t I just tell you it like I already did?

PERSONAL TRAINER
It’s easier if I can see it and it’s done each day so you don’t forget.

CLIENT
I will do that next week.

PERSONAL TRAINER
Then we’ll have to skip the nutrition coaching today.

CLIENT
Even though I paid for it?

PERSONAL TRAINER
There’s nothing to do if I don’t have your food journal.

CLIENT
Just teach me something about nutrition.

PERSONAL TRAINER
It won’t make a difference if you’re not doing it.

CLIENT
Alright. You win.

PERSONAL TRAINER
There’s no winning. I’m counting on you then next week.

CLIENT
Yes sir.

PERSONAL TRAINER
Let’s go ahead and start your workout.

CLIENT
What are we doing today?

PERSONAL TRAINER
Upper body.

The Personal Trainer stands up and motions for the Client to do the same. They both leave the office and head to the main area with the exercise equipment.

The Personal Trainer leads the Client to the treadmill to begin the workout with a warm-up.

WILL and EMMA are on a rooftop bar overlooking the city at night. They are dressed both smartly. The crowd is minimal with people standing in small groups with a drink in hand.

EMMA
But why did you leave Nashville?

WILL
I couldn’t do anymore.

EMMA
With me?

WILL
Well-

EMMA
Please don’t lie to me.

WILL
I don’t want to fight anymore ok?

EMMA
Just tell me.

WILL
Maybe I was out of ideas - I tried everything.

EMMA
And going abroad is the answer?

WILL
Right now I can focus on the startup idea.

EMMA
Again with your fitness blog.

WILL
Emma.

EMMA
Nashville, Tennessee… Actually, America is the place to be for business. And especially in fitness.

WILL
I can create this startup anywhere.

EMMA
But you can’t make money anywhere.

WILL
Again back to money.

EMMA
How will you support yourself? Or us? And you can't make money from a blog.

WILL
Some people do.

EMMA
That's true. Mostly it's politics and sports.

WILL
There is a niche.

EMMA
You have to go where there's money.

WILL
This is about health.

EMMA
You could be a lobbyist or organize protests. Those guys are always funded.

WILL
Are you serious?

EMMA
I'm just throwing out ideas.

WILL
I was thinking to combine it with travel.

EMMA
That's an interesting take. You know I love travel.

WILL
See - ideas.

EMMA
Not a bad one.

WILL
Speaking of, I should write something while I'm thinking about it.

EMMA
What do you expect me to do?

WILL
Do you want to write something too?

EMMA
I mean am I supposed to wait?

WILL
Maybe you can come to me.

EMMA
And leave everything?

WILL
Well why not?

EMMA
I know you don't like my family.

WILL
What?

EMMA
You said they're just activists.

WILL
I said the opinions and self-congratulatory altruism give me headaches.

EMMA
You're a jerk.

WILL
Such a novel idea to move to another country and follow their rules.

EMMA
I'm going to hang up.

WILL
What about working somewhere else?

EMMA
I'm a teacher - I don't have the luxury of working remotely.

WILL
Luxury?

EMMA
You know what I mean.

WILL
You can be an educator elsewhere.

EMMA
I think my qualifications won't transfer - you know I don't know.

WILL
We can find out.

EMMA
We could.
